• Text is a great convenience for near live communication, use as such.
  
• Email is a great way to thread ongoing collaboration and decision making for business. Leaves breadcrumbs.
  
• Email is not a substitute for face to face situations. For example, when it's more efficient to brainstorm in person with whiteboard.
  
• No flaming. If you wouldn't say it to someone's face, don't say it at all.
  
• Avoid essays and diatribes, and hold the rant.
  
• Humor is good, use emoticons when sarcastic.
  
• Respond to threaded emails within same subject.
